We listen to the local area
Before designing anything we talk to those who live a place: associations, schools, sports bodies, individuals. They tell us what is needed, not us deciding at a desk.

About us
PhiMeK is a Third Sector Entity and an Amateur Sports Association. It brings together culture, movement, relationships and responsibility to generate shared wellbeing, with activities open to people and projects built together with institutions, schools, businesses and associations.
Registered with the RUNTS since 29 May 2026

Our story
PhiMeK was born from the idea that culture is not something distant from everyday life. Mediterranean philosophy becomes a practical lens: it helps us read needs, create bonds and design activities that do good for people and places.
Culture, sport, nutrition and education are almost always treated as separate worlds, each with its own spaces and its own audience. In real life, however, they are the same thing: they are called wellbeing. We built the association around this conviction, choosing to work where those worlds meet.
We choose our activities based on what is missing in a given context, not on what is easiest to organise. That is why we work by projects: each one has a recognisable place, audience and objective.
We operate between Calabria and national contexts, building alliances with institutions, associations, sports bodies, schools, universities and businesses.
How we work
We don't have complicated formulas. We have four steps that we follow every time, because that is what makes an initiative useful and not merely successful.
Before designing anything we talk to those who live a place: associations, schools, sports bodies, individuals. They tell us what is needed, not us deciding at a desk.
Every initiative is born with those who bring skills, spaces or experience to the table. Responsibilities are clear from the start, roles set out in black and white.
Our activities require no particular prerequisites. Anyone who wants to take part can find a way to do so, at their own pace and starting point.
At the end of every initiative we ask ourselves what worked and what didn't, and we share it with those who took part. This is how the next project starts better prepared.
The manifesto
Mens sana in corpore sano is our starting point, not a slogan. None of these dimensions works alone: it is their balance that makes the difference, and that is what we seek in every initiative.
Knowledge, culture, awareness.
Meetings and workshops designed so that participants come away with something useful, not just an evening spent.
Movement, sport, health.
Sporting activities built for those who want to start, not only for those already trained: everyone at their own pace.
Balance, values, inner wellbeing.
Timing and pace of initiatives chosen to leave room for listening, without the haste that drains gatherings of meaning.
Mediterranean diet, sustainability.
The Mediterranean table told as a daily practice of health, through food, seasonality and choices accessible to all.
Community, listening, participation.
Every project is born with someone from the local area: associations, schools, sports bodies, people who live that place.
Our seven areas of work tell the PhiMeK story better than any presentation. If you represent an institution, a school or a business, the Partnership page explains how a project is built together.
